I was recently leadnig a book titled Consiglieri: Open Preview See a Problem? But many of the attributes that have been most useful to consiglieri can’t be chosen and developed in this way.

But there is a lot more to be mined around the ideas of team leadership, ‘managing up’, and generally being the trusted adviser. As in the great majority of today’s leadership manuals, the message of Consiglieri is that in a time of shadoww media scrutiny, when leaders are supposed to be transparent in everything they do, two-faced immorality of the kind Machiavelli recommended has ceased to be a profitable strategy.
Anyone can be a leader, we believe, and with the right training anyone can be a successful consigliere.
