I give this book 3. This was my first book by Jill Barnett, and it will not be my last. A Sensuality Hot Book Type: The uninvited green-eyed and mink-haired guest in question is no other than Joyous Fiona MacQuarrie, an adorable as much as bungling sorceress from Scotland, mis-landed, and thus misplaced on Belmore’s ducal lap and coach, thanks to a botched spell of her own doing nothing new theremeant instead to send her rusticating in a country cottage while her aunt and mentor is away for a two-years “business” convention.
Some hours later, after the heroine has deforested the area, they are married, the heroine is head over heels in love and decides to tell her fresh husband that she is a witch. He kisses her senseless into accepting a marriage proposal, although she does insist she has something to tell him first!
Reread for the book club pick this month. I really loved this book the first time I read it. Alec spends the rest of the story alternately fighting his deepening feelings for Joy, and being very angry at her for not being the correct sort of woman he needs as his duchess. San Francisco attorney Maggie Smith felt like having a good cry. I am some kind of a junio I really wanted to like this book. He, at first, is st I really kind of liked this regency about how the arrogant, unfeeling, icy Duke of Belmore hastily marries Joy, a beautiful young woman he meets unexpectedly in the middle of a dirt road one night in the country.
They seemed a little out of proportion to the story, but setting that aside, this book is a lot of fun. I did not understand why she was required to bargain with the aunt near the end.

I get it’s supposed to be silly and funny, but all I wanted to do was groan over the absurdity of the idea. I think this was a wonderfully light romance read, that if you want to believe in happy endings and in magic this might be just what you need. The woman he married was a breath of fresh air and filled his world with magic. This is the book that made me a reader! But ferrying planes for the RAF is not the only thing that strikes a sharp passion in Charley.
She soon realizes this will take a lot more work than she expected as he is very closed off and only concerned with the family name. The story was promising but little problems kept pulling me out of it.
